The stigma of mental illness was worse in the 1960’s and 1970’s but still persists today. Widespread prejudice and commonly held stereotypes require more education and a broadening of our perspectives. NAMI works to change the way the world sees mental health. It is the largest grassroots mental health organization dedicated to building better lives for the millions of Americans affected by mental illness.
